The walk today was a little chilly but the sun was shining and our hounds seemed to really enjoy themselves! I just wanted to also say thanks to everyone who attended the walks this year. Kelle and I had a great time and enjoyed seeing all our old friends and meeting some new ones. Also, a special thank you to all the people who made donations to the club. They really helped out and made a difference.
Happy Holidays everyone! See you in April.

Even though we had a small group today, it was alot of fun. The weather was perfect and we had the pleasure of talking greyhounds to a family that was there for a picnic. Their kids really loved the hounds!
Thanks to everyone that attended. Pictures from todays walk are posted here!

The Greyhound Walking Club of Central New York would like to announce its next walk. Here is the info you will need:
Sunday, Sept 25th 2010 at 10am
Mill Run Park
Manlius, NY
For those new to the walks, please review the FAQ page on the site. This is a very easy trail and good for all hounds and people alike. There is one incline but after that, its very level. The total loop is about a mile but we can extend it if we want to with other trails.
Please click here for a google map of the park. From there you can click on directions. We will be meeting up at the main parking lot in the park. If it does prove to be a bad weather on the 25th (thunderstorms, heavy rain, extreme cold or heat), I will post something on the site 2 hours before the walk indicating we will cancel the walk and reschedule. Hopefully this will not happen.
If you need assistance with specfic directions or don’t understand something in the map, feel free to email me at glenn@thegreyhoundwalkingclub.com .
If you are planning on attending, please post a comment below. It would be nice to know roughly how many people are coming.
Keep those pictures of your hounds coming! Submit them at the top of the page by clicking on SUBMIT YOUR PICTURES.

I was in my car at 8:30am and it wasn’t looking so good. Rain was coming down and the skies were dark. Luckily though, when 9am rolled around, the rain stopped and everything was a go! I counted 14 hounds today but there could have been more. It was a great turnout and everyone seemed to have a great time. I know i did. A couple thank you’s I do need to mention. First, thank you for all the donations at the event and also the Pay-pal donations I received today on the Internet. I really appreciate the help in making sure our club continues. It does make a huge difference. So again… thank you so much to everyone that has donated so far. Also, a special thank you to Lisa Chelenza from Pet Pointers on YNN. She ended up staying for the whole hour and did a wonderful story on our club and on Greyhounds in general. Thanks Lisa, we appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to come to our event! As soon as I get specifics on when the segment will air, I will let everyone know. I’m sure it will be on the YNN website as well.
Here are some pictures and a video from today. See you all at the next walk which will be announced shortly.

This mist was turning into rain for the first few minutes of the walk today. Then out of the blue, it stopped and turned absolutely beautiful. It was a perfect day for a walk. Thanks to everyone that attended. Also, an additional thanks for another donation that was giving to me at our walk today. Every little bit helps and it was very much appreciated. You can easily donate to the GWC through my Paypal link of to the right of the website. If you don’t feel comfortable donating through Paypal , let me know and we can make other arrangements.
Again.. thanks for attending today. We had 11 dogs today!

Could it have been a better day for a Greyhound walk? I highly doubt it! The sun was shining, mid 60′s by the end of the walk and alot of fun had by all. Thank you so much for everyone that came out for our first walk of the season. Thanks to Judy for the pictures. Click here and enjoy!
I will be posting the May walk very soon! If you have any suggestions about future walk locations or anything at all about our club, please don’t hesitate to email me.
I also wanted to again say thanks to the people who have donated through the link on my website. I really appreciate the support. I want to make sure this club lives on for a very long time.
See you in less than a month!

I was very surprised at this. I posted on 2 greyhound forums and emailed all our members. I got one response. Its just not worth having with this kind of interest. I will cancel it for now. Please, if you think we should still have it, email me. Id like to start another dialogue.

Thanks to everyone that braved the weather. It didn’t rain at all on our walk. It started out very rainy in the early morning but by the time 11am came around, the sky brightened up and it got to be a very comfortable temperature outside. I am very glad people suggested Pratts Falls for a walk. It was a very scenic walk among the fallen leaves today. The club will definitely be back to that park next year.
So… since this was the last walk of the season and I just want say a big THANK YOU to everyone. My wife and I have had a blast. Our hound Jake and Allie just love seeing all the hounds every month. It’s been so much fun meeting so many new people and seeing alot of familair faces. We hope that during the off-season you tell you friends about us so we can grow the club even bigger next year. I plan on starting the walks up again next year in April.
Also, please continue to monitor the website during our off-season. I plan on having a bi monthly online Greyhound show in which you will be able to listen to as well as participate in. It will be sort of a “virtual meeting room” that I will make online and people can request an invite to be a part of it. This event will also be recorded so that if you can’t attend you will be able to watch it online later or even download it on your Ipod. We will have topics ranging from Greyhound clothing to how to keep your hounds teeth clean. It will be alot of fun and will be very interactive. You will be able to send in emails to be read on the show and also even speak on the show if you have a microphone connected to your computer. It may all sound really complicated but it wont be. Just keep monitoring the site over the next couple weeks for info and how to participate.
Again.. thanks to everyone who came to the walks this year and made the GWC so much fun for everyone! CLICK HERE for pictures from todays walk.
