The information I gather from this survey will help me with upcoming walks. It will also assist me in figuring out things we would like to add or get rid of from our club. The majority of the feedback so far has been very positive. I really appreciate all your kind words. Please remember to keep the feedback coming. I really want to know how we can make our club better.
A couple of you that took the survey had asked what costs are associated with this club. In running this club, one of the costs is maintaining and hosting a website. This is not free. The GWC had to pay for the domain which is a reoccuring charge every year. We also have to pay for hosting and backup. This is also not free and carries a monthly charge. For special events like the good dog park, a banner had to be purchased as well as bottled water. I also intended on having an online greyhound show/podcast viewable on the internet in the off walking season. Software and some equipment would have to be purchased for this. These things may not sound like alot but when you add it all up plus the time it takes to organize the events/walks we have, posting pictures/videos on the site, it all adds up. Thats not to say i’m not willing to do it. I love every minute of it. I just thought maybe if people really like the club and want to make sure it stays in existance for years to come, it might be a good idea to have the members support it with a small donation every once and a while. It would be totally optional but it could really make a difference down the road.
Again, I appreciate all the feedback so far. Keep it coming. I got so many great ideas for new walk locations. I am very excited!
Thanks to everyone for making this walk the best turnout ever! If I counted right at the end, we had 12 hounds! As everyone can tell, its starting to get colder outside but I think we can still squeeze a couple more walks in before the snow and really cold weather comes. Thanks to everyone who attended! We had a bigger than expected turnout and best of all, the rain held off for the entire event. It was a wonderful morning and it seemed that everyone had a great time. Also, a special thanks to Leiko and all the people at Onondaga Lake Parks for being nice enough to let use their park for our event. Hopefully this can be a regular thing for our club.

Many people have expressed concern over the tidiness of the Dog Park. I share these concerns but I want to assure everyone that our hounds will be safe. We will be on the small dog side which is always a lot cleaner. Plus, I will be getting there at least an hour early to make sure the grounds are up to snuff. If there aren’t, I will do the cleanup myself. Onondaga Parks is also going to make sure that the grounds are spick and span before they close the night before. Again, as a precaution, its always good to make sure your hound is up to date on all their shots and preventatives (flea, tick, heartworm, worms). That’s just good common sense even if they weren’t attending a dog park event.

Please keep watching the site for the next few days. I have to exciting news to post concerning our next walk. It will be a walk we won’t soon forget. Did I get you thinking? Want a hint? Sorry, youll have to wait. I promise, it will be posted very soon.
Our walk this afternoon was perfect. Not too hot for the hounds and no rain for the entire walk. Thanks to everyone who attended. We had 3 more people this time, so hopefully next time we can get a few more. I would like to see our club grow to at least 15 hounds per walk. It can be done!! Watch soon for the next walk announcement. As most of you heard today, I am working with the Onondaga Parks people so we can have our next walk/get together at the Good Dog Park in Liverpool. My hope is that we can have it all to ourselves for an hour. Our hounds could roam free and we could have more time to socialize and get to know one another. Click here for pictures of todays walk.
Yesterday our beloved maggie had to be put down because of her battle with cancer. There will never be another greyhound like her. My heart is crushed and I never thought I could love an animal as much as I loved her. She got me through some of the darkest times in my life. She could always make me feel better whenever I was blue. It wouldn’t take much. Just a hop on the couch, her head in my lap and that look that she gave me. The look that told me everything was going to be alright. Ya know what, she never let me down. It was always alright. She was smart like that. I felt such a strong bond with her from the day she came into our home. She was also the most gentle, sweetest dog in the world.
Farewell my friend. You will always be remembered and I will think of you often.
First of I just want to say thanks to all those who attend our first walk this morning. I think it was a great success. We got more people that I had anticipted and the weather was perfect. Well, maybe a bit too hot for the hounds but at least it didnt pour rain. Its so hard to predict the weather around here but hopefully our next walk won't be as hot.
